Auzon river basins – Le Cendre (63)

Mission G2 PRO

Project owner : CLERMONT AUVERGNE METROPOLE

Clermont Auvergne Métropole wished to build two retention basins on either side of the Auzon (10,700m² and 1,700m²) at the south-west entrance to the town, as well as a retaining sill, in order to reduce the flow of current floods from the Auzon to Le Cendre.

These structures will make it possible to reduce the frequency and level of flooding by controlling the height of the water so that it can flow into the lateral basins located upstream of the weir.

We were commissioned to carry out the geotechnical surveys and tests required to create these hydraulic structures.

Two main issues had to be studied:

  • Diagnosis of the existing dyke, protecting the football stadium at Le Cendre, in the event of rising water levels.
  • arthworks and foundations for structures located close to and in the bed of the Auzon river (sloping ground, with the presence of water).
