Mission G4
Client : Communauté d’Agglomération Le Grand Périgueux
Project manager : Egis Eau
Following the geophysical diagnostic study that we carried out, Le Grand Périgeux commissioned us to carry out the G4 mission to supervise the G3 study and monitor the work to reinforce the Neufont dam.
The project consists of :
- reinforcement by installing rock riprap at the foot of the dam.
- earthworks up to the base of the dam to change the drainage pipe.
- reconstruction of the dam using materials from the site, with monitoring of compaction.
- building a footbridge to access the water intake structure, with foundations in the rebuilt dam.
The complexity of this project lies in the earthworks on an old structure with the constraint of rebuilding a durable structure (monitoring of materials and compaction methods). Stability during the construction phase was also an essential technical aspect, and was given particular attention. Adaptations made during the construction phase have enabled us to adapt the methods planned during the study phase in order to guarantee the safety of people and property.
The reinforcement work using additional rockfill downstream has ensured the long-term stability of the structure under all of the Eurocode 7 approaches.
The foundations of the footbridge providing access to the water intake structure were calculated taking into account the settling inherent in this type of structure.
Our teams monitored this complex project, which involved multiple stakeholders.
