The Saint Benoit du Sault dam is a 17th century structure that carries the Route Départementale n°1 across the river “Le Portefeuille”.
It consists of a masonry wall supported by an earth embankment, while a stone veil covers the upstream face.
Following the observation of leaks downstream and the presence of sinkholes on the crest of the structure, Sol Solution was commissioned by Géotec Dijon to diagnose the Saint Benoit du Sault dam with a view to carrying out rehabilitation work.
Core drilling to a depth of 13 metres was carried out, as well as HET internal erosion tests in the laboratory.
