Compaction tests consist of driving a set of rods into the ground to check the thickness of the compacted layers and the densification objectives defined for each section, and to identify compacted areas with compaction defects.
The compaction test is used to determine whether the backfill has been laid in accordance with the rules of the trade. A well-compacted backfill will help to ensure the longevity of the networks. Poorly compacted backfill, on the other hand, can lead to problems such as road subsidence.
