We recently had the opportunity to present the PANDA® penetrometer to the team at the do Pico mine, located near Belo Horizonte in Brazil.
ℹ The mine is managed by Vale, one of the world’s leading mining companies. Vale is increasingly favouring safer methods such as dry stacking for storing mine tailings.
To guarantee the stability of these structures, the quality of compaction is monitored during the construction of the piles using compaction control methods.
As part of our visit to the mine, we were able to show the Vale team how to use the PANDA® penetrometer for simple and effective control of this type of structure.
